Pro-regime and Darfuri students scuffle at central Sudan institute
Three female students from Darfur were injured in scuffles with pro-regime students in the dormitories of Bakht Elruda University in White Nile State on Wednesday. A leading figure from the Darfur students association told Radio Dabanga that two of the female students were taken to detention by student supporters of the National Congress Party (NCP) while the third was taken to El Duwain Hospital.
Three female students from Darfur were injured in scuffles with pro-regime students in the dormitories of Bakht Elruda University in White Nile State on Wednesday. A leading figure from the Darfur students association told Radio Dabanga that two of the female students were taken to detention by student supporters of the National Congress Party (NCP) while the third was taken to El Duwain Hospital. He also stated that female students of the NCP attacked the dormitories of Darfuri female students and beat the girls, leading to the injury of three of them. He said that a complaint was filed and the girls were admitted to the hospital under condition of ‘mental instability.’ They were surprised that later the police took two of the female students to prison. He also revealed that the three students were Fatima Bashir, Intisar Mohammed Omar and Zamzam Abdul Azim.
On the other hand, the director of the welfare fund which is responsible for the dormitories said that what happened was a normal fight that took place between the students of the dormitories and stated that some of the students filed complaints against others. He also stated that the welfare fund afterwards succeeded in reconciling the students and those that the arrested students were later released on guarantees (similar to bail), ending the issue.
