Prices continue to rise in El Fasher
Prices of food in the markets in El Fasher, North Darfur are continuing to rise dramatically. A price of a small sack of sugar is 255 Sudanese pounds, a jerry can of oil is 195 SDG, and milk cartons are 480 SDG. El Fasher residents told Radio Dabanga a sack of millet is 420 SDG, a kilo of lamb 30 SDG, beef 28 SDG, chicken 23 SDG and a dozen eggs are 8 SDG. A number of traders said the recent rises were caused by the high price of the US dollar and the shift of capital to the US. The residents demanded that authorities intervene immediately to address the sharp price hikes.
