Policemen and engineer killed in ambush near Nyala, South Darfur

Seven policemen and an engineer who works for a company that builds roads and bridges were killed in an ambush in Umm Zeeifah southwest of the South Darfur capital of Nyala on Monday.Sources said an armed group hijacked a government vehicle, being used by the engineer’s company, as it was travelling from Nyala to Bulbul Tubuskul.Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that the police followed the hijackers, who stopped when they reached the Umm Zeeifah area, and ambushed the policemen.According to the witness, following an autopsy at the hospital, the bodies of the dead were buried in Nyala on Tuesday.File photo
