Passengers robbed, woman abducted in Central Darfur
Militiamen attacked a passengers’ lorry, east of Zalingei in Central Darfur on Sunday. They beat and robbed the passengers, and abducted a young woman. Speaking to Radio Dabanga, one of the passengers reported that “government-backed Janjaweed riding on motorcycles, camels and horses” intercepted a lorry en route from Ereida, Yassin locality, to Waranga in the evening.The passengers, on their way home after shopping in Ereida, were beaten with batons and whips, and robbed of all their belongings. Seventeen passengers sustained varying injuries. The gunmen took one of the passengers, a young woman named Saadia Musa, to an unknown destination. The victim urged the authorities to “rescue the girl and bring the perpetrators to justice”.
