Paramilitary convoy attacked, coordinator killed in South Darfur
A coordinator of the paramilitary Popular Defence Forces (PDF) was murdered in Tullus locality, South Darfur, on Saturday. South Darfur State intends to prohibit the use of Land Cruisers. PDF coordinator Ali Adam, his bodyguard, and three others were killed on Saturday, when gunmen ambushed their convoy, that was on its way from Ed Daein, capital of East Darfur, to South Darfur’s capital of Nyala. Two PDF troops sustained injuries. The convoy came under heavy fire in the area of Selea in East Darfur, Abdelrahman Mousa, a relative of the coordinator told Radio Dabanga. During the ensuing gunfight, three attackers were killed before the gunmen overcame the paramilitary forces, seized a PDF vehicle loaded with arms, and fled. Addressing the congregation in a mosque in Nyala’s El Jir district on Friday, the Governor of South Darfur State, Maj. Gen. Adam Mahmoud Jarelnabi, said that the Land Cruisers currently roaming the state are stolen from the Central African Republic and Chad. He pointed that these non-registered vehicles without number plates are used by alcohol and drugs dealers.
