Opposition in Sudan calls for political reforms
SLM (MM) presses for transitional government Minni Minawi, leader of the Sudan Liberation Movement, Minni Minawi faction (SLM-MM) said, that the political crisis in Sudan could only be solved, if the National Congress Party (NCP) would give up its dictatorial rule, and become a political party like the others. The NCP must not represent only itself, but has to sit down at the same table with other parties, and armed movements, so Sudan may find a solution for its current difficulties. Minawi declared, that for such a consultation a transitional government would be required. A permanent constitution needs to be established, which stipulates the right of self-determination for all peoples in present day Sudan. Minni Minawi told Radio Dabanga, that the Darfur problem should be resolved as part of a comprehensive solution to all problems of Sudan.

Heads of opposition parties, including the President of Umma party Sadiq al-Mahdi, have come to an agreement, stating that the current government is illegitimate, and stressing the need to collaborate on a comprehensive change through political means. In a meeting of heads of political parties and through national consensus, they approved a document , which deals with issues of security, elections and e new transitional constitution.
