One dead, four injured in attack on lorries in South Darfur
Gunmen reportedly killed one man and injured four others on Saturday in an attack on a commercial convoy en route from Jimeiza to Kass in South Darfur. A passenger told Radio Dabanga that “government-backed gunmen” in two Land Cruisers mounted with machine guns opened fire on a convoy of four lorries in the area of Kirindi, in the locality of Kass. Yasin El Nur was killed and four others were injured. The gunmen robbed the passengers of all their money and belongings. Amarjadeed Also on Saturday, militiamen reportedly ambushed a lorry travelling from Tawila in North Darfur in the area of Amarjadeed, Manawashi locality in South Darfur. One of the victims told Radio Dabanga that militiamen on horses and camels had fired into the air when the lorry reached the area of Amarjadeed. The lorry driver was forced to stop. The gunmen stripped the passengers of their money, mobile phones and belongings. They also took all the goods the lorry was transporting and fled. File photo
