One dead as gunmen attack village, raid market in Darfur

A citizen was killed in an attack by militiamen on a village in Sirba locality, West Darfur, on Sunday. In South Darfur gunmen raided the Sunday market of Burma village, and assaulted a villager on Monday. Ahmed Mohamed Abdallah (37) was shot dead on Sunday by a group of militiamen in a raid on the village of Gulnageisa, east of Sirba town, a villager told Radio Dabanga. “They took ten cows and horses, and fled.” In South Darfur, gunmen raided the Sunday market of Burma village. “They whipped a sheik (65), when he tried to defend women who were shopping at the market,” the coordinator of the Kass camps for the displaced informed Radio Dabanga. He added that gunmen assaulted Ali Osman Alem, and beat him with their whips, when he was on his way to his village on Monday. “He had to be transferred to the hospital of Kass for treatment.” File photo
