Demonstrations against heavy fines imposed by the administration for non-submission of researchStudents at University of Nyala in South Darfur staged sit-in protests on Friday against fines imposed by the university administration over non-submission of their research papers.The students belonging to distance learning faculties of Education, Economics and Law demonstrated against fines that range from 45 to 480 Sudanese pounds for non-submission of their research papers by the deadline on October 30.The complaint filed by students stated that the fines exceed their financial capability. The students who organized a protest march said that the move violated the rules of the institution as they weren’t getting any receipts for their payments.Many students have been forced to quite studying because of the administrative difficulties and economic struggles. One of the students also revealed that major errors in the curriculum were discovered much after the exam schedule was announced.
