“Nyala and Kutum incidents not related to opposition”
Minister of Interior, Ibrahim Mahmoud Hamid, stated that the incidents in Nyala and Kutum are not related to armed movements or opposition. He pointed out that a robbery in Kutum led to the death of the local commissioner and his driver. Hamid emphasized in a press statement, that the involvement of the Sudanese Central Reserve Forces (such as Abu Tira) is the main reason behind the increase of violence in the region. On the other hand, North Darfur Governor, Osman Mohamed Yusuf Kibir, announced handing over the Locality’s file of incidents to the prosecutor for Darfur crimes on Thursday September 13, during his visit to Kutum. Yaser Ahmed Mohamed, prosecutor for Darfur crimes, stated he is working on the file of incidents from Kutum and El-Waha Localities, which contains over a dozen criminal cases.The prosecutor declared that “the hand of justice will reach all those involved in the incidents, the court will not tolerate the criminals who violate the rights of the oppressed”. He called upon the citizens to cooperate with the court by notifying all those that could assist in the investigation.
