North Darfur water crisis: Omda calls on authorities to dig more wells
The residents of the area of Wadi Jidara in North Darfur are suffering from a severe drinking water crisis. Omda Eisa Osman from Wadi Jidara reported to Radio Dabanga, that the densely populated area of Wadi Jidara, 9km north of Kabkabiya town, does not have access to drinking water since more than two weeks, when two women and a cow fell inside the only water well in the area. Until now, it has been impossible to pull the bodies out of the well. “We now have to fetch our water from Wadi Aramba, which is located 4km from our area.” The Omda called on the authorities of Kabkabiya locality and North Darfur State, to “shoulder their responsibility and solve the water problem in these areas by digging wells”.
