North Darfur: Sixth day of Kabkabiya doctors’ ‘evening strike’
An “evening strike” campaign by doctors at the hospital of Kabkabiya in North Darfur is into its sixth consecutive day, a hospital employee told Radio Dabanga on Thursday. The medics’ action – which involves downing tools from dusk until dawn – is a protest against the deterioration of the security situation inside the hospital after militias tried to assault the nurses last Friday. The doctors have submitted a statement to authorities demanding that adequate security be provided urgently, but the authorities have not yet responded. The source stressed the doctors would not return to work unless the problem is solved, security is restored, and army and police elements are stationed at to the hospital to keep it safe.File photo by Albert González Farran/UNAMIDRelated: Medics strike for better security in North Darfur hospital (7 May 2013)
