North Darfur newly displaced fear disease
Citizens displaced by militia attacks on areas northeast of Kutum in North Darfur are complaining of the outbreak and spread of diseases, especially measles. Listeners have told Radio Dabanga that three weeks after fleeing their villages to the Um Gosen Mountains, Chaba Hama Gassa, Toro Boro, and Chiraan Kasana, tens of thousands of people – mostly children, women and the elderly – are still living rough. Callers from the area renewed their demands for humanitarian organisations to speed expedite aid, especially in light of the outbreak of diseases. File photo: 6 April 2014.
