No power for four days in Nyala
The city of Nyala in South Darfur has been experiencing a blackout, with no electricity supply for the past four days. A resident told Radio Dabanga the supply of electricity seemed to fluctuate over the past three weeks, before stopping completely four days ago. The blackout has come at a crucial time for students and pupils preparing for their special certificate, end of year exams. The witness appealed to government authorities to move quickly and manage the situation to avoid damaging the interests of students, citizens and employers in the city. South Darfur’s acting minister of urban planning and infrastructure, Abdul Karim Musa said the problem will be solved within 24 hours. He added that the ministry of electricity and dams have approved 1,200 tonnes of fuel needed for the state’s power station.
