No aid reaches flood victims in North Darfur’s El Sareif
More than 1,000 families who lost their homes owing to torrential rains last week in El Sareif Beni Hussein locality, North Darfur, have not received any help so far. “The 1,196 families whose homes were swept away by the heavy rains and the ensuing floods last week, are living in dire humanitarian conditions. They are trying to survive without any food or shelter,” a listener from El Sareif town reported to Radio Dabanga. “They have not received any assistance until now, whether from the government or from humanitarian organisations. Malaria is spreading, and a lot of these new homeless are suffering from diarrhoea.” He urged aid organisations, and the North Darfur State authorities to provide relief “as soon as possible”.
