New North Darfur Governor to address security issue
Governor Abdelwahid Yousif Ibrahim prepares a plan to address the insecurity in North Darfur, in collaboration with localities. He cancels high councils in the state.
The newly appointed Governor of North Darfur State, engineer Abdelwahid Yousif Ibrahim, confirmed that the issue of security is the top priority of the federal government. He has ruled to relieve the heads of the high councils in the state.
Following a meeting with locality representatives in El Fasher on Friday, he said that the government, together with the state's security committee, have prepared a plan to address the security issue and deter the outlaws and criminals from North Darfur.
Abdelwahid Ibrahim called upon the representatives from Kabkabiya, Saraf Umra, and El Waha localities to play an active role in the efforts to provide security and stability, and to restore the prestige of the state. The Governor added that services should be provided to citizens in all the localities of the state.
Internally displaced people in one of North Darfur's largest camps, Zamzam, have already demanded an improvement in the protection of the displaced people from militia attacks, along with the provision of urgent services such as health, education and water.
Abdelwahid Ibrahim, who took office as the new Governor exactly one week ago, issued a number of decisions whereby he canceled the high councils and ruled to relieve the heads of those councils. These decisions entailed to relieve the commissioners and the secretary-general of the Agricultural Development.
He stressed the need for further cooperation, solidarity and cohesion in order to service the people of the State.
