New North Darfur Council ‘to adopt common vision’
The Governor of North Darfur, Osman Kibir, has announced the establishment of a coordinating council to bring together the leaders of all political parties in the state. The aim is to draw-up general policies and adopt a common vision for national issues. Addressing a meeting which brought together the political parties participating in the government, the North Darfur opposition, in addition to those armed movements signatory to the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD), Kibir said that that the exceptional circumstances experienced by Darfur in particular, and Sudan in general, necessitate the need to broaden the base of participation, and for parties to accept each other without exclusion.
