New EU Delegation head arrives in Sudan
The new head of the EU Delegation to Sudan, Jean-Michel Dumond, arrived in Khartoum last week.
He is expected to present his credentials to the Government of Sudan in the coming days, the EU Delegation to Sudan said in a press statement on Saturday.
Ambassador-Designate Dumond was formerly the EU Head of Delegation in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Before that, he served as the French Ambassador to Nigeria. He has been posted to Germany, Italy, and Romania.

He also served as Director for Common Foreign and Security Policy, and as Deputy-Director for Western Europe at the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He devoted a part of his career to Francophonie, the statement reads.
The role of the EU Ambassador is to represent the EU in Sudan, to ensure the enhancement of bilateral relations, to promote the EU values and interests, notably peace, democracy, and respect for human rights through political dialogue, development cooperation and humanitarian assistance to the people of the Sudan.
