‘Neutral forces’ needed to halt Rizeigat-Ma’alia clashes in East Darfur: Commissioner
The Commissioner of Abu Karinka, East Darfur, Osman Gism Hassan Gasim, has asked the government to expedite the deployment of “neutral forces” in order to avoid renewed fighting between the Rizeigat and Ma’alia tribes. The Commissioner stated that such an action would enhance security, impose the prestige of the state and constitute an outlet for reconciliation. He told reporters present at the Parliament on Sunday that the situation is still tense on the ground. He added that the military identity cards seized during the recent clashes will be presented as documents to the committee formed to perform an investigation of the conflicts between the two tribes.
