National numbers of North Darfur displaced issued ‘for free’
The Darfur Regional Authority will form a mechanism to issue official documents for the displaced people living in camps in North Darfur. The displaced will receive these papers for free, according to an official. Suleiman Abdel Karim, the coordinator of the mechanism, announced that the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) and the civil registry are part of the mechanism. He further revealed to Radio Dabanga that these documents will be issued for free, as the DRA covers the fees, in accordance with the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur. Karim called upon the displaced people to not pay any fees for the issuance of any official document, nor allow any entity to exploit them. Residents of Abu Shouk camp, in El Fasher locality, already complained about the imposition of fees this week, claiming that they cannot afford such an amount.
