Says it’s a move meant to mark the unity of resistance movements in Darfur
The Liberation and Justice Movement (LJM) splinter group led by Abdul Aziz Abu Namusha announced its merger with Minni Arko Minnawi’s Sudan Liberation Movement (SLM-MM) on Sunday.Abdul Aziz Abu Namusha had left the Doha talks a few months ago with a group of followers to form a splinter group owing to discrepancies with the LJM head Tijani Sese’s leadership.
Minni Arko Minnawi told Radio Dabanga, while welcoming Namusha’s move, that the merger aims to unite all the marginalized forces in Darfur.
On the other hand, Abdul Aziz Abu Namusha said that they had taken this step because they were convinced by the SLM-MM’s agenda. “We wish for all the movements of Darfur to unite as we don’t want to proceed with a new movement of our own,” he said.
Various resistance groups in Darfur have been coming together in the recent past to form a coalition meant to “topple the regime in Khartoum.”
