Musa Hilal’s council: ‘Postpone Sudan elections’
The Revolutionary Awakening Council, headed by Sheikh Musa Hilal, has called for the postponement of the national elections declared for the year 2015. Meanwhile in South Darfur, Minister Eisa Adam Abaker scored the highest number of votes in the elections to run for the office of the Governor. Militia leader Musa Hilal on Thursday described the announcement made by the ruling National Congress Party (NCP) to hold the elections as an “unsuccessful standpoint, as Sudan has suffered since the absence of a political vision and a lack of comprehensive solutions to the problems in the country”. His spokesman stressed that these statements hinder the march and the course of the National Dialogue process. The NCP should await the consensus of all political opinions in the dialogue, leading to a comprehensive political solution, and what the negotiating table might bring out. Mohamed Ahmed Abakar for the Revolutionary Awakening Council further stressed to Radio Dabanga that a postponement of the elections is required in order to reunite all the Sudanese, stop the wars, and reach a sustainable peace. ‘Racism in NCP South Darfur’ In Nyala on Wednesday, Ibrahim Ghandour, Presidential Assistant and Deputy-President of the NCP, warned against the spread of tribalism and racism within the party. It will lead to the dismantling of cohesion within the party, he stressed. Ghandour on Wednesday addressed a general conference of the NCP in South Darfur. He said that he supervised 13 general conferences in 13 states, where he “did not smell tribalism and racism, except in South Darfur state”.
