Most water pumps out of order in West Darfur camps
For more than year, water pumps in seven Sirba camps for the displaced in West Darfur, are out of order. The Spokesperson for the Sirba camps reported to Radio Dabanga that the people of the camps are suffering from a shortage of drinking water due to the cessation of the water pumps. In Saraf Jidad camp eight pumps are not working, in Arman Kul camp three pumps, in Bir Dageeg camp five, in Kan Deby camp six, in Sirba camp eight, in Bab Jadeed camp three, and in Abu Surouj camp there are three water pumps out of order. On top of this, the Spokesperson noted, the engine used for pumping water from the well was stolen by militiamen. He appealed to organisations to help the camp residents out repairing the water pumps.
