Two men beat him to death after he refused to give away his mobile phone

A minor was killed by two armed men in Abodhir refugee camp near El Geneina, West Darfur on Thursday.The child who studies in a primary school was killed after he refused to comply with the armed men’s demand of giving away his mobile phone.

A relative of the deceased told Radio Dabanga, “The men behind the crime have been identified and caught. Their families have agreed to pay the deceased boy’s parents the blood money.”

Rise in thefts

On the other hand, refugee camps in Western Darfur have witnessed an increase in the number of robberies by armed men in military uniforms. There has been loss of livestock, including 40 sheep, and commodities from shops.

Radio Dabanga had reported earlier this month about excesses carried out by armed men in military uniforms suspected to be government-backed militia.
