Minawi alleges corruption in Darfur Authority
The head of the ex-rebel Sudan Liberation Movement, Minni Arko Minawi, alleged the existence of corruption in the Transitional Darfur Regional Authority.
The head of the ex-rebel Sudan Liberation Movement, Minni Arko Minawi, alleged the existence of corruption in the Transitional Darfur Regional Authority. He pointed blame at members belonging to the National Congress Party in two departments within the authority: Rehabilitation and Resettlement led by Ibrahim Madbo and Compensation under the chairmanship of Abu Al Gasim Ahmed Abu Al Gasim. Minawi said this in an interview with Radio Miraya, a UN-run FM network in South Sudan. Minawi said that Vice President Ali Osman Mohamed Taha was aware of the corruption and aware of who is responsible for it in the two offices. Minawi leads the Transitional Darfur Regional Authority in accordance with the Darfur Peace Agreement.
