Militiamen terrorise South Darfur: four killed

In South Darfur, two policemen were killed in an attack by five militia members on a police station 21 km west of Kass town on Thursday. Two travellers en route to Nyala were killed on Friday. Witnesses told Radio Dabanga that the attack on the police station in Abr Manjon took place after the evening prayers. Policeman Adam Saira (45 years old) and his colleague Abdel Majid Mohamed Abdallah were killed. The source added that the government-backed militiamen caused injuries amongst Adam Tibin (39 years old), Temir (38), and Sigu Adam Saira (13). Afterwards, the perpetrators fled the scene on camels. But in the resulting chaos, some residents fled to Um Labasa area, while others fled to Kass town. Where, on Thursday, people had sought refuge from a raid by the Sudanese army in their village, Jimeza Komura. One of their soldiers was shot dead by a masked gunman the night before in a show club in the village, which lies north of Kass. Militiamen attack caravan Also in South Darfur, a pro-government militia killed two people and injured another in Dabanaira, north of Mershing town, on Friday afternoon. “Eight militiamen riding on the backs of camels opened fire on the caravan, consisting of five vehicles carrying people and goods, at about 1 pm,” a witness told Radio Dabanga. They shot one citizen, called Abakora, and one military staff, Abdel Karim, dead. Asim Adam Ahmed was wounded. “The guards of the caravan then forced the attackers to flee,” the witness said.
