Militiamen rape three during raid in Darfur’s Jebel Marra
Three women were raped as militiamen attacked villagers in East Jebel Marra on Monday evening, and raided their houses and shops.
An eyewitness told Radio Dabanga that more than 30 militiamen, wearing military uniforms, rode into Taradona on their camels at about 8pm. They seized three women and raped them, and wounded a number of residents.
“The militiamen drove us out of our villages,” the witness said. “They beat the men and young people, and forced them out of Taradona.” Contents of homes and shops were loaded onto the camels.
The attackers then moved to Kunjara North and Kunjara South and assaulted the people there, before robbing them of their belongings.
“We have sent delegations to El Fasher, to meet with the Governor Yousif Abdelwahid. He told us to go to the Commissioner of Tawila locality, and open a file of the incidents there. He ordered us not to return to him again, because these incidents fall under the jurisdiction of Tawila.”
