Militiamen rape four women, rob villagers in North Darfur
Four women were allegedly raped and several citizens were injured when militiamen invaded and looted a village in the vicinity of Kabkabiya, North Darfur. A resident of Margouba, 13km west of Kabkabiya, said the attack happened at 1am when the alleged perpetrators, riding horses and camels, entered the village. The milititants stole most the livestock and belongings of Margouba’s residents, injured several citizens, three of them seriously, and raped four women. The source told Radio Dabanga that all inhabitants of Margouba fled the village to Kabkabiya. He pointed out that this is the second attack on the village in a month. In September, gunmen attacked Margouba, raping three women, killing two people and wounding three morte, as well as plundering their property and livestock. Margouba is one of the villages to which the displaced have voluntarily returned, in line with the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur.
