Militiamen murder two, plunder town in North Darfur’s Kutum

Two people were killed, others were injured, and more than ten people went missing in an attack by militiamen on Nurain, 60 km north of Kutum, in North Darfur on Thursday afternoon. The men also looted the money, cattle, and properties from the residents. A witness from Kutum told Radio Dabanga that pro-government militia elements in 22 vehicles, and three others riding on camels’ backs, attacked the village at 2 pm. They fired dense shots into the air, and slaughtered two village elders named Babiker Ahmed (65 years old) and Moses Yagoub (50 years old). The source added that the attackers beat residents who were unable to escape, and wounded 15 of them seriously. The rest is sustaining various injuries. More than ten people, including children, have gone missing since the attack. The militiamen further looted houses, shops, and livestock. Radio Dabanga reported earlier this month that militiamen are in control of Kutum locality, in the absence of authorities since two years.
