Militiamen attack couple, torch nutrition centre, Darfur
A woman was reportedly shot dead and her husband injured in an attack by unknown gunmen in Kass locality in South Darfur. A relative of the victims told Radio Dabanga that gunmen on Monday evening attacked Ishaq Abdelmoula Ibrahim and his wife Fatouma Yahya Mohamed inside their home in Tor district, west of el Zalat.The attackers fired a hail of bullets, which led to the death of Mohamed on the spot. Ibrahim was seriously injured and transferred Nyala hospital on Tuesday for treatment. In the northern Nierteti camp for the displaced in Central Darfur militiamen allegedly torched a children’s nutrition centre on Monday evening. Speaking to Radio Dabanga a sheikh reported that “pro-government militias in military uniforms” came to the camp’s nutrition centre at about 11pm on Monday. They ordered the centre’s ward to hand them the keys to the stores. When the ward told them that he did not have the keys, they fired at the doors of the stores, igniting a fire. Residents of the camp were able to extinguish the fire, though one of the stores completely burned down. The sheikh noted that the stores contain biscuits and food supplements for malnourished children.
