Militiamen released trader Babiker Adam Osman in Kutum, North Darfur, on Thursday evening.
The release followed payment of a ransom by his family.
Osman was kidnapped in Kutum town last Thursday. Members of a government militia driving a Land Cruiser took him to an unknown destination.
A relative told Radio Dabanga that nine gunmen kidnapped the well-known merchant nicknamed 'Zumbur' at Kutum's grand market. They told him to leave his home at gunpoint, beating him on his head with their rifle butts, and threw him in their vehicle, and set off into the western direction.
Babiker is the fourth merchant to be kidnapped after Sheikh El Maghrebi, Abdallah Mustafa and Ibrahim Abdelshakoor within one month. All were released after paying a ransom.
