Medics in North Darfur capital end one-day strike
Doctors at the Teaching Hospital and the Saudi Hospital of El Fasher, capital of North Darfur, embarked on a strike today, which ended after negotiations with state officials.
In a statement on Wednesday, the doctors announced the decision to strike after the failure of their talks with the hospital managements and the Ministry of Health about the delay of their financial entitlements, the deteriorating work environment, and the bad housing.
They said they would only end the strike when all their demands were met.
One of the doctors told Radio Dabanga today that a number of doctors met with North Darfur state officials this morning. The officials expressed the state government’s commitment to meet their demands, whereupon the medics decided to end the strike.
