Marsland Aviation cancels flights, does not tell passengers

Flight cancellations by Marsland Aviation Company caused hundreds of protesters to gather in front of the company’s offices in Nyala and Khartoum. The flights were cancelled for repair purposes and are set to resume on Saturday. Travelers told Radio Dabanga that the company did not inform them of its intention to do repair work and yet went on with the procedures and confirmation of booking of flights. They did not apologize later. The travelers condemned the attitude of the company and stated that travelers are suffering due to technical functions and abilities of the aviation companies.

The travelers also condemned the lack of interference by civil aviation authorities to hold the companies accountable.

Air travel has been the most important means of travel between Nyala and Khartoum since the Nyala train stopped functioning and the land routes became unsafe.
