Many Darfur students in eastern Chad not registered yet
Parents in the Djabal refugee camp in eastern Chad are late in registering their children at the camp schools.
Juma Ishag Adam, head of the camp’s Education Committee told Radio Dabanga that there are six schools in the camp, hosting more than 4,000 students. “Since the beginning of September, about 1,000 students have been registered only.”
He said that many parents need the help of their children during the current agricultural season, which will last until October. “Nevertheless, it is important that the children get schooling,” he stressed, and appealed to the parents to register their school-aged children “as soon as possible”.
