Man stabbed by Abu Tira forces in North Darfur
A man was killed today in Zam Zam camp, near El Fasher in North Darfur by Abu Tira forces (Central Reserve Force personnel) for refusing to hand over his belongings, a witness stated. The victim, Abdullah Basher, was returning home from the market when he was intercepted by four armed men. They asked him to hand over his money and mobile phone. Basher refused and was stabbed in the stomach as the men looted his belongings and ran off. He was taken to El Fasher hospital but died on arrival. Residents of the camp managed to chase the Abu Tira forces back to their headquarters but were met by machine gunfire. They went to report the incident to the police, who responded by saying it was not their responsibility as Abu Tira operated outside the ordinary remit of the law, and there was not much that they could do about it.
