Man slain as vehicle misses ‘toll stop’ in Darfur

A resident of the El Salam camp in Nyala locality, South Darfur, was murdered on Tuesday. El Salam camp sheikh Mahjoub Adam Tabaldiyah recounted to Radio Dabanga that camp resident Hussein Abdallah on Tuesday went to visit his family in El Fasher in North Darfur, using commercial transport. Militiamen had erected a stop sign in order to demand money from passing vehicles on the road between Nyala and El Fasher. The driver of the Toyota Abdallah was travelling in did not notice the sign. In response, the militiamen opened fire on the vehicle, killing Abdallah outright. The camp sheikh demanded the prosecution and arrest of the murderers.
