Man dies months after shot in North Darfur protest crackdown

A protester injured in the Mawasir market protests in May died of his wounds on Sunday morning. This brings the number of those who died in the crackdown to 10. The demonstrators had taken to the streets in anger over a Ponzi scheme allegedly masterminded by ruling party officials. Gunfire broke out hitting protesters after they tried to march to the governor’s residence. The protester Yasser Zakaria Nasser was injured with bullets in the leg and stomach and was taken to the hospital where he continued to receive treatment until he passed away yesterday. Radio Dabanga learnt this from his mother, who received the body of her son from El Fasher hospital and buried him.
