Three-month campaign looks to avoid spread of diseases in the rains
The United Nations-African Union joint mission in Darfur (UNAMID) began on Wednesday an airlift of vaccines to protect livestock in Darfur.The three-month campaign kicked off with the UNAMID handing vaccines to the officials of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the Ministry of Animal Resources and Fisheries in El Fasher, North Darfur.
The operation, which is aimed at preventing any outbreak of major livestock diseases during the rainy season, will continue over the coming weeks.
The UNAMID is supporting the FAO and the ministry in transporting the vaccines from Khartoum to areas in Darfur.
