Land rights protesters wounded in Sudan’s capital
A number of protesters in Khartoum’s El Shajara district were wounded in clashes with the police on Friday. The people protested against the Khartoum state authorities’ sale of plots of land in El Shajara to investors, claiming that the land belongs to them. One of the protesters told Radio Dabanga that the people went to the streets in the south-western part of Sudan’s capital after the Friday prayers. “We blocked the main street by burning tires. When the police attempted to disperse the protesters with tear gas and batons, a number of people sustained various injuries,” he said.
