Killing, robberies, hijacks in Darfur
A man was stabbed to death and another was seriously injured in an ambush by armed robbers in the area of Azirni in Kireinek locality, West Darfur, on Sunday. In Khor Kalash, on the Zalingei-El Geneina road, gunmen attacked a convoy of three passenger lorries, and hijacked one of them. Another lorry was hijacked in Birkat Seira, North Darfur, on the same day.

An eyewitness told Radio Dabanga from Azirni that three militiamen attacked Musa Idris Ibrahim and El Tom Yousef when they were returning from the Azirni market to Ardamei.
“When they confronted the robbers, Ibrahim was stabbed to death with a spear, and Yousef sustained serious injuries. He was taken to El Geneina hospital for treatment.”
Hijacks
On the same day, militiamen intercepted a three passenger lorries on the road connecting El Geneina, capital of West Darfur, with Zalingei, Central Darfur’s capital.
“We were on our way from Foro Baranga to Nyala,” a passenger of one of the lorries explained to Radio Dabanga.
“At Khor Kalash, a group of heavily armed robbers stopped the lorries at gunpoint. They told the drivers and their assistants of two of the lorries to embark the third, and then took this lorry, with all its passengers, towards an unknown destination.”
In Birkat Seira, Saraf Umra locality, gunmen ambushed a lorry, en route from Saraf Umra town to El Fasher. They robbed all the passengers, before hijacking the vehicle.
Motorcycles
“We are increasingly attacked and robbed by militiamen on motorcycles,” a listener told Radio Dabanga from Birkat Seira. “They are in particular stealing our livestock, taking the animals to Jebel ‘Amer in El Sareif Beni Hussein locality.”
