Inferno destroys 25 homes, crops in North Darfur
At least 25 houses burned to the ground in the area of Fata Borno in North Darfur on Friday.
Speaking to Radio Dabanga, North Darfur MP for Kutum and Fata Borno reported that a fire that broke out in Beidi village near Fata Borno destroyed at least 25 homes.
“The fire spread rapidly to farms in the area because of the strong wind, and caused significant damage to crops,” MP Mohamed Abbas Ibrahim said.
“Since Friday, the inhabitants of the destroyed houses are living in the open, without shelter.”
He appealed to the governmental “Humanitarian Aid Commission, the state government, relief organisations, and the people in Kutum locality to support the victims, and provide food and clothing for them”.
