IDPs in Kalma warn authorities of dismantling their camp
About five thousand IDPs from Kalma camp demonstrated yesterday morning in front of the headquarters of UNAMID. Sources said that the demonstration was a reaction to a plan by the authorities in South Darfur to build a road from the railway passing through the camp. IDPs deemed the plan as an attempt to dismantle the camp under the pretext of road construction.

The demonstrators handed a memorandum to the UNAMID protesting the plan. One of the elders of the camp told Radio Dabanga he accused the authorities in South Darfur of seeking ways to empty the camp so that they can hide the effects of displacement in Darfur.
