High mortality rate in Abu Zabad Hospital in West Kordofan
The Hospital of Abu Zabad in West Kordofan is suffering from an acute shortage of life-saving equipment and medicines.
People complain about a high mortality rate among the patients, as the few medics working at the hospital have to make do with poor equipment, hygiene, and a scarcity of life-saving medicines.
In the past few weeks, five pregnant women died in the hospital, a health source told Radio Dabanga from Abu Zabad.
‘Fake’
On Thursday, the Joint Mechanism for Health Issues in Khartoum reported the arrest of an owner of a clinic specialised in fractures and dislocations. No one of his personnel had a medical qualification.
Members of the Mechanism told reporters in the Sudanese capital that another clinic and a laboratory were also closed,, as well as a small pharmacy run by a fake pharmacist.
