The University of El Fasher is shut down in the aftermath of the killing of two students by police during a raid on a campus political rally. There was an heavy presence of security in the streets of El Fasher yesterday including tanks.The family of the student Jamal Adam Mustafa, who was killed in the events of the University of El Fasher on Wednesday, announced that it demands punishment of his killer. The Government of North Darfur disclosed that it has formed a legal committee to investigate the facts of his death. The father of the slain student pavilion said that they will begin legal proceedings to identify and bring to justice the offender.
For his part, Hafez Alpha, spokesman for the Governor of North Darfur, told Radio Dabanga that state formed a legal committee on Wednesday to identify the offender and bring him to trial. He said they would cooperate with the family of the student until the punishment of the murderer. He also accused the armed movements of killing the student.
In the meantime, there were reports of injuries to 13 students while 11 others were arrested on Thursday. Tear gas was used at a dormitory after the university administration made the decision to empty the building. Students were evicted from the building.
