Heavy rainfalls caused the destruction of fifty houses, three elementary schools and the death of over 9000 livestock in the Malha locality, North Darfur. Ismail Mohammed Juma, Member of Parliament, told Radio Dabanga he estimated the losses at more than one billion Sudanese pounds. According to him the villages struck hardest by the rain are: Mesus, Adror, Kubuje and Abougran.
Adam Al Amin Ismail, commissioner of the Malha locality, explained that a health committee has been formed to exterminate the dead animals to prevent the outbreak of disease. He said the government has sent vaccines and medication to the affected areas.
