The Chadian security authorities on Monday afternoon arrested the displaced person Abdul Malik Bahr Shaib, who is the head of Abu Nabag Camp, and Sultan Yusuf Mohammed Nourain from the civil administration of the camp. They took them to an unknown destination. Witnesses from the camp told Radio Dabanga that the Chadian security authorities came to the camp and took the head of the camp and sultan Yusuf without presenting any reason for doing so. Dr. Mohammed Ali Mustafa the secretary-general of the union of refugees told Radio Dabanga that the arrests took place after coordination between the Chadian and Sudanese forces. He had warned the Chadian government of handing the two to the Sudanese authorities as has happened before with other refugees. Dr. Mohammed Ali called on the United Nations and the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR) to offer protection and security to the refugees in camps in Eastern Chad.
