Gunmen kill two, wound six in South Darfur; farmer slain, another injured in Central Darfur

On Monday two residents of Kalma camp for the displaced were shot dead and six others injured in an attack by armed herdsmen in Wadi Taisha, east of Nyala, South Darfur. On Wednesday a farmer was shot dead and another wounded near Garsila in Central Darfur. Sheikh Ali Abdel Rahman El Tahir of Kalma camp reported to Radio Dabanga that “Janjaweed” opened fire on a group of 15 displaced. They were collecting firewood in Wadi Taisha on Monday. Two died on the spot, and six were seriously injured. They were transferred to Nyala hospital. Seven of the group are still missing. The sheikh added that the Janjaweed had threatened before that anyone collecting firewood or cutting timber in the area would be shot. Abu Tira uniforms Speaking to Radio Dabanga from Garsila, a source said that two gunmen in uniforms of the Central Reserve forces (Abu Tira) on Wednesday at about 11pm attacked two farmers. They were irrigating their farmlands. The gunmen shot at the two farmers, injuring them critically. The victims were transferred to the Garsila hospital. One of them died of his wounds on Thursday. The source noted that the attack was reported to the police. They tracked the offenders on Thursday but did not find them. Abu Tira uniforms

Speaking to Radio Dabanga from Garsila, a source said that two gunmen in uniforms of the Central Reserve forces (Abu Tira) on Wednesday at about 11pm attacked two farmers. They were irrigating their farmlands.

The gunmen shot at the two farmers, injuring them critically. The victims were transferred to the Garsila hospital. One of them died of his wounds on Thursday.

The source noted that the attack was reported to the police. They tracked the offenders on Thursday but did not find them.
