Gunmen kill 3 Rizeigat tribe members
Eye-witnesses reported that the current security situation in Abu Jabra, East Darfur, is very critical after three people from the Rizeigat tribe were killed by unidentified gunmen, last Friday, 28 September.Speaking to Radio Dabanga on Sunday, 30 September, sources added that another six Rizeigat tribe members got injured during the same incident last Friday.Rival tribes According to sources, Rizeigat tribe members were accused of stealing cows from the rival Maaliya tribe, that comes from the Abu Jabra area. They said the cows’ owners chased the alleged thieves, killing two of them and injuring six others. Sources informed Radio Dabanga that one of the injured men died later from his wounds at the Ed Daein hospital, the state’s capital. As a consequence of the dispute and subsequent killings, large crowds belonging to the Rizeigat and Maaliya tribes are currently gathering in their home areas. Rizeigat is in El-Siget, 14 km south of Abu Jabra, and Maaliya in Abu Jabra area, which is located 18 km west of Adeelah city. On Sunday the governor of East Darfur, general Mohammed Fadlallah Hamid, and government troops arrived in Abu Jabra to prevent further clashes from arising between both tribes, sources told Radio Dabanga.
