Grandmother dies from shock as girl abused in North Darfur
The rape of a schoolgirl near a camp for displaced people in Kabkabiya, North Darfur, caused her grandmother to go into a shock and die.
A relative of the girl, who is a basic school student in sixth grade, reported to Radio Dabanga that four members of a pro-government militia raided a house in a camp east of Kabkabiya at 11pm on Wednesday. “They took the girl from the lap of her grandmother at gunpoint, and abducted her to Burgu valley. The militiamen raped her there and would not release her until the next day, Thursday.”

The incident caused her grandmother to go into a shock and die instantly.
The victim was in poor condition and has been taken to the hospital of the AU-UN peacekeeping mission for treatment. The family first obtained a Form 8 from the police to report the rape.
"We demand the end to the repeated violations and abuses by the pro-government militias against displaced people," the relative called upon the authorities.
