Grains are increasingly scare at the markets in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur. Traders said that deliveries of some grains to the market have completely stopped, especially millet and sorghum.

They noted also that wheat has been lacking in the municipality markets for a long time. A trader told Radio Dabanga they have started to go by themselves to local markets and production areas for the purchase of crops. He pointed out that the price of 25kg of millet (dukhun) rose to 225 from 180 pounds. Traders are selling mostly quarter sacks because of lack of supply. Besides which, there are no supplies of sorghum, and the price of ground millet has reached 450 pounds in the production sites, which are at a distance of 40 kilometers from El Fasher.
